Russian drone attacks on eastern and central Ukraine

The Ukrainian military said on Thursday that Russian forces had fired 72 drones at several locations in central and eastern Ukraine overnight, downing 47 of them.

The Ukrainian air defense system said the drones were shot down in the following regions: Cherkasy, Chernivtsi, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Kharkiv, Kirovograd, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Odessa and Sumy. The extent of damage in these regions was not yet known.

The Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday that it had shot down 13 drones fired by the Ukrainian side in the Bryansk, Belgorod, Kursk, Kaluga and Voronezh regions along the Russian-Ukrainian border. Local authorities said there were no immediate reports of casualties in those areas. Two people were killed in Wednesday’s Russian strikes in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.
